Recording available: Access Europe Online 2014-10-01 – Automating Excel from Access

We had a fantastic turnout for this session. 17 people showed up, so certainly an improvement over last time.

I hope that all 17 had a good time, and took something valuable with them from the presentation.

Meeting Recording:

I have uploaded the presentation and you can view it here:

Sample File Download

I have also uploaded the sample database that I used for the main part of the presentation, unto my website, and you can find that here(Link Fixed):

Download “Demo-Database.zip” Demo-Database.zip – Downloaded 308 times – 52 KB

The last piece where I am showing one of my databases, and its export functions have not been uploaded. I am afraid I can’t share that, but if there is anything you saw in that part of the presentation that you would like to hear more about, you are always welcome to drop me a email or an message.

I hope to see you all again next time, but please note that the next meeting will be December 3rd, since I will be in Redmond for the MVP summit in November. Back to the mothership for an upgrade 🙂

Hi Anders, you’ve uploaded Treeview-Demo-Part-6-Add-New-Node.zip as sample file for last Wednesday’s presentation

I’m running your Demo Database.accdb for the presentation but I get a Compile error: Variable not defined for msoPatternDarkVertical in
    .Format.Fill.Patterned msoPatternDarkVertical
    what library am I missing?

Interesting. Its part of office 2010, the theme packages. I didn’t actually realize they were not part of office 2007 (Which I presume you are using). I can’t really recall what is available in 2007, but you could try to just comment out that line, or replace it with one in which you set the backcolor of the series.

In your Public Sub Demo7(), what is it that makes the bars relevant to the closed comments display as negative?

      Hi. Its these 2 lines:
      oWS.Range("E3:E" & 2 + rs.RecordCount).FormulaR1C1 = "=-IF(RC[-1]>50,45,RC[-1])"
      oWS.Range("F3:F" & 2 + rs.RecordCount).FormulaR1C1 = "=-IF(RC[-2]>50,5,0)"

Note the minus (-) at the beginning of the formula. Its another added benefit of using hidden columns, that I don’t have to show the negative values.

I’ve installed Office 2010 and I still get the same Compile error: Variable not defined for msoPatternDarkVertical in
    .Format.Fill.Patterned msoPatternDarkVertical
how do I get the theme packages?

  5. Giorgio says:

Found the solution, Microsoft Office 14.0 Object Library needs to be added to VBA References
